Stop!
Amidst the chaos of my chores,
The visions of my existence,
The worry in my hair,
I found time to say Thank you.
In the darkest – most deepest space,
In the lonesome of my heart beat,
Beating to a distant drum of hope,
I found time to say Thank you.
Within the shattering sound of my silence,
The somber truth that is reality,
The slammed door that appeared ajar,
I found time to say Thank you.
Thank you because you never forgot me,
Thank you because you are worth it,
Thank you because I need to say so,
Thank you because I’m thankful.
Thank you because you trusted me,
Thank you because you challenged my strength,
Thank you ... and simply Thank you.
As I awake to welcome the sun rays,
Bid farewell to the brooding darkness of the passing night,
I will find time to say Thank you.
As I engage in the chaos of my chores,
Give myself selflessly to those who need [this] self more than I need myself,
I will find time to say Thank you.
With all the beautiful distractions that will attempt to abate the presence of my being,
With all the emotions that will motion towards my emotions,
I will find time to say Thank you.
In the lessons that I will listen to with my heart,
In all the verses that will revive the river that runs within,
I will find time to say Thank you.
And when I do find that time ...
That’s when my soul will begin to sing,
That’s when my curse and burdens will slide off of me,
That’s when I will know that you are a Great God,
That’s when I will know that you are a Faithful God,
That’s when I will learn to say I am Blessed,
That’s when I will shed the cloth of Shame,
AND FIND TIME TO SAY THANK YOU.
